President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States recently passed away. President Carter held many titles besides 39th President of the United States, he was also a humanitarian, 2002 Nobel Peace Price winner, American politician, family man, Georgia peanut farmer who was a friend to all.
Carter, who was born in southern Georgia to a registered nurse and a local business man was the first president of the United States to be born in a hospital. After high school he attend several Georgia colleges and then joined the Naval academy. During this time he also met Rosalyn Smith and there two were married. They were deployed in states Virginia, Hawaii, Connecticut, New York and California. After his deployment, he returned to Georgia to
expand the family’s peanut farm.
While starting to speak out about racial inequality and he decided to run for a Georgia State senate seat and won after a fraudulent election.
After serving as a senator, Carter ran for governor in both the 1966 and 1970 elections, winning in the second run and served as the governor
from 1971 to 1975. In 1974 he made the announcement that he would be running for President of the United States in 1976.
President Carter was a great friend to the everyone who met him especially those in the LGBTQIA+ communities and we should carry on his
legacy of being a friend to all in need.
